This is my interpretation and reproduction of Friedrich Hundertwasser's original painting: "Winter Painting - Mister Snow", mixed media, 92cm x 60cm, 1966.

Farm Kitchen Mosaic Backsplash

Overview of the kitchen after the mosaic backsplash installation.

Sample sketch for customer. This time with a lot more circles! The inspiration for this mosaic design was the customer's outside environment - mountains. The design pattern mimics colorful, abstracted, rolling hills.

A sample board created after discussing colors and patterns in person. The costumer really liked the colors and pattern and expressed a particular interest in the hand carved circle accents.

The border behind the skink. The intricate details and accents are evenly scattered through out the whole compostion.

A shot of where the two walls meet seamlessly in the corner, the pattern flows perfectly into itself - this is one of the benefits of having a custom, sight specific project.

Chicago Condo Mosaic Backsplash

What an incredible transformation from dull kitchen into a sheek, visually pleasing, unified space!

A before shot of the kitchen (taken by costumer). This project was created remotely by phone and email. The project custom mosaic sample was mailed to the customer for approval.

For this project, sketches were drawn on top of the printed blue print. Photographs and measurements were sent in by the client. Preliminary sketches of patterns discussed with customer.

Color samples. Sample A is the first sample mailed to the customer. Sample B is the second sample mailed and approved (the customer requested the upper rectangles to be slightly smaller)

Installation: It is highly recommended to have Chicago Backsplash install your project or a qualified professional with experience installing stained glass mosaics. Be sure to take accurate measurements of your kitchen to ensure proper fitting.

Mosaic installs tend to be a bit messy but we got it covered! You can also see the mosaic tiles are intalled as numbered pieces that are taped on the face with tile tape. A map of the project is created to assemble the pieces correctly. This is key if Chicago Backsplash will not be installing your project.

Close up of the little window shelf we framed out. This turned out particularly nice and was our customer's favorite feature.

Next day: After glue has dried, the tape is pealed away and any excess glue is cleaned off. The tiles are ready to be grouted!

The surface is covered with a sanded, charcoal grout. This gets wiped clean soon after it is applied and then sets for a couple days.
